Jessica Alba went for high-wattage glamour at the premiere of her brutal new film in Paris. With her hair swept up in the a bouffant style and wearing a little black dress to show off her toned figure, the actress cut a glamorous figure on the red carpet.
It is in stark contrast to the character she plays in thriller The Killer Inside Me - Alba takes the role of a prostitute who is violently murdered by a small town American sheriff. But last night it was glamour and smiles at the Cine Cites des Halles on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old actress wore killer wedges with a gold ankle band to match her unusual dress and kept her accessories paired down with just a ring and dark red nail polish to complement the look.
The film, directed by Michael Winterbottom, has been criticised for its brutally realistic portrayal of domestic violence, but the mother-of-one has defended the role.
She acknowledges the film is a departure from the Hollywood blockbusters she is famous for, such as the Fantastic Four and Sin City, and says her priorties changed when she had two-year-old daughter Honor.
In a recent interview, she said: 'After I had my daughter, I wanted to concentrate on doing movies with good directors.
'If I’m going to be away from her, it needs to be worth it.
'I don’t want to be away from her doing some big silly movie where I’m running around in a leotard shooting people for six months.' Although her role is as a prostitute, she said her character is an independent woman in an age when she feels women didn't have many choices.
Jessica said: 'People can say what they want about sexuality and what's right and what's wrong but there are a lot of women, still to this day, who use their sexuality in so many ways to be taken care of by a man and I kind of admire the way that she didn't choose that route.' After rising to fame in the Fantastic Four she had a steady acting career and some very lucrative endorsement deals including an ongoing deal for Revlon. She gets $5million a year to represent the brand.
However after giving birth she took a whole year off and has only shot a handful of movies since, including Valentines Day, which was released earlier this year, and the upcoming Little Fockers with Ben Stiller. Jessica can also soon be seen in Machete, a dark crime thriller also starring Robert DeNiro, Lindsay Lohan and Michelle Rodriguez.
